This journal has the aspect of an old medieval gate. It is solid, heavy, simple and yet so unique in it’s design. The covers are made of vintage brown leather to which I added a plus of patina to enhance its worn look. It has its natural color, it is not dyed, but was treated to enhance its aspect and flexibility.

This is a lockable diary, with a working lock and key. The metal hardware were given a black patina. The metal brads, besides their design purpose, will also allow the book to lay flat when open.

The journal measures 10.2 x 7.3 inches (26 x 18.5 cm). It is filled with white, blank writing paper and has 190 pages (380 sides). The paper has a thickness of 125 gsm and works for ink and dry media. It is acid free and does not bleed through. The pages were hand-torn and the edges toned in light brown to make the book block fit better the overall antique look of this book.

The spine was designed to resemble that of an old book. The raised bands were obtained with strips of leather underneath the one that covers it. It is decorated with leather paints.

The end pages are made of decorative paper that resembles parchment. The headbands are hand sewn from brown and black linen thread.
