I designed this large leather journal as an art object. It is made of materials collected by me during time – the covers are made of leather recovered from an old bag and they feature antique brass decorations that I got many years ago during a trip to Paris at the antiques market. The leather is worn and shows the signes of wear, the brass decorations has a beautiful patina of old metal and overall, the book has a sober and mysterious aspect.
The book measures 12 x 8.5 inches (30×21.5cm). It has 114 pages (228 sides) of artist quality paper. This is light beige color Fabriano paper, hand torn, thick (200 gsm) that will work for both writing and sketching in any media, including watercolor.
The end pages are made of marbled paper with black, brown veins on a ocher background. The headbands are hand sewn from ocher and brown cotton thread.
This is a large, heavy book. It is made to be used for a long time and at the same time to make a wonderful statement piece in your library. I hope you will love it once you’ll meet it.
